Brazil Santos 14/16
Brazil Santos 14/16 is the ‘younger brother’ of the regular Santos 17/18, which is traditionally considered to be the best Brazilian Arabica. Their main difference is in their bean size: Santos 14/16 has a smaller screen size. In addition, these two varieties come from different suppliers and growing regions: large Santos comes from the Mogiana and Sul de Minas regions, and small Santos is grown in the region of Cerrado.
Height of growth: 900 – 1200 meters above sea level.
Climate and Geography. Cerrado is a vast area of the tropical savannah. Coffee plantations are located on the plateau, far enough from the ocean. The region has its own unique microclimate. Coffee trees grow right under the sun and are never shielded from it. The production of coffee in Cerrado is the most mechanized in the world, the share of manual harvesting is insignificant.
Taste. This Brazil variety is tarter and more full-bodied than Santos 17/18: since the beans are rather small, they can be thoroughly roasted, which means that coffee gets a tart nutty taste. The aroma also has distinguishable hints of burnt sugar, rye bread and dark chocolate. The flavour profile is strict, with minimum sourness.
